Let Him adore you!

“Come, let us adore Him,” the blessed hymn once said.[1]

Indeed, it is right and just to adore Him.

But do not forget, blessed soul,

To also let Him adore you!

For why else would He traverse

the vast expanse of this fallen universe,

to share your nature?

To be born just like you,

flailing and wailing from a woman’s womb,

and learning to walk with unsteady limbs?

To bleed, to tire and to hurt,

to know the agony of heartbreak, suffering and death?

Indeed, He finds you so exquisitely, infinitely,

overwhelmingly adorable,

for you were made in His image and likeness.[2]

Not even a universe of ills, brutality, evolution and death

could separate you from His undying and eternal Love.[3]

Anyone can go up to adore a god.

Your ancestors did it, millennia ago,

to worship the sun, the moon and the stars.

Aware of our weakness, we worship the strong,

The ancient Neptune, or today’s idols and celebrities.

But He, knowing our fallen nature,

came down to restore our true Destiny.

What is that Destiny, you may ask,

for is not man destined to die and go to dust?

No, it is not so in the beginning.

He, the King of the universe, created you

to be His heirs, His co-rulers and beloved children.[4]

You have merely forgotten.

That is why you crave power,

and hunger for meaning and importance.

It is your destiny to have all of this, and more!

But not in this fallen universe, which is doomed to dust,

which is governed by the laws of injustice and cruelty.

It is to that Eternal Kingdom that He means to lead you.

Through quiet waters and dark valleys,

Let Him shepherd and guide you.[5]

Fix your eyes on Him, and let Him adore you.[6]

Through joyful occasions and excruciating moments,

Let Him be with you and treasure you.

For you are one with Him, in body, mind and spirit,[7]

And no flame shall pass by you that has not burned Him first.

Always let Him adore you, and live within you,[8]

and your life shall unfold with the clarity of a glorious Destiny,

the embers of which shall penetrate into

every moment of your life, even the most inglorious ones.[9]

And you will know that Love,

which the great saint once said surpasses all knowledge,

which many waters cannot quench,

and which will fill you with all the fullness of God.[10]
