On fairy tales

[Note to readers: This article was curated many years ago, shortly after my reception into the Catholic church. At that time, I found some of its contents enlightening/inspiring, even if I did not fully agree with everything the author wrote. It remains here as a testimony to my life’s past journey, and is not intended to urge anyone to adopt any particular religious worldview. As my own thoughts and opinions are constantly evolving and may not be identical with my past or future thoughts, each reader is encouraged to be brave in finding inspiration from all available sources in order to find the best paths in his/her life journey.]

When I was younger, I used to see fairy tales as some sort of escapism from reality, but as I grow older, I realise that fairy tales point us to a higher reality, the one that lasts forever…

Luckily, another insightful writer, Carolynne Estis, has written all about it in this article, thus sparing me the time and effort 🙂

I’ve just finished watching the new remake of “Beauty and the Beast” in its entirety. It touches me very deeply and gives me great strength for my journey ahead. It seems that as long as we live in this world, we will find most people chasing after shadows, living their whole lives pretending in order to be cherished and desired, wanting to be better than others, not realising that true meaning is found in the brotherhood of mankind, in Love and in Eternity. Fairy tales, I think, have the ability to remind us of where we’re truly going (not to death and dust and oblivion, but to Glory, where we will truly know and be known for who we truly are).

I just hope that this life of mine, so filled at times with weaknesses, doubts and misfortunes, may one day fulfil its true purpose and be found worthy of its Creator, who is all Love and all worthy of my Love and faithfulness.

🙂
