Considering the fact that I supported Biden back in 2020 (due to then-President Trump’s mishandling of the pandemic, amongst other things), I feel the need to express my hope that Trump will win this year’s 2024 presidential election.
At the end of the day, as much as I want to have an inclusive leader who knows how to express himself in a polished and diplomatic manner, the most important thing that today’s world needs is someone who can provide the right direction. What’s the use of being nice and all-inclusive if the long-term end result of the policies you’re championing is yet more chaos, moral confusion, and a lack of direction/purpose in life that leads to even more widespread despair, discord and divisions?
That said, I’m very glad I’m no longer living in the States. The part of the world I’m living in currently prioritizes social harmony and national unity, and our culture has a high aversion to “airing out” topics that are considered “inappropriate,” controversial or “shameful.” So things like abortion or LGBTQ issues are not open battlegrounds here (unlike in the US), and there is more continuity and harmony when we look at topics such as national unity, religious belief, and the pervasiveness of cultural influences.
I’m also glad that I am currently surrounded by the culture that I love, and that is a part of my heritage. I don’t need to deal with the cacophony of discord and divisions that so permeate American society.
I’ll end this short post on this note: If ever America can live up to its name by being the United States of America, it’d be a miracle! Praying for all Americans during this difficult time, especially for the professors at the University of Notre Dame who had so gently and compassionately guided me, prayed for me and gave me good advice back in 2020-2021.
Take care everyone!
